|
BRADFORD, MA: Mr. Robert Henry Descheneau (“Papa” aka “Coach”), 75, of Bradford, passed away Saturday afternoon, Feb 20, at his home, peacefully and surrounded by his loving family.
The son of the late Lillian and Eugene Descheneau, Papa was born in Haverhill on July 12, 1934 and was one of seven children. He was educated in the Haverhill school system and then worked in the trades as a painter for 40+ years.
He was the beloved husband of Marilyn (Gustafson) Descheneau of Millbury, MA with whom he shared 35 years of truly blissful marriage.
Papa was a devoted and adoring husband to his wife, or as he calls her his “Bride,” a proud and loving father to his 7 children, and a joyous grandfather to his 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Papa was generous and selfless and thought nothing of helping a stranger in need. He lived his life as a caregiver to his family and a protector of those he loved. Everyone who knew Papa adored him and he touched those lives in special and significant ways. We will forever cherish the gentile and genuine man he was, and the everlasting memories we have. We will sorely miss his gentle smile and his easy giggle but we will not say “goodbye” because as Papa always said, it’s not goodbye, it’s “until.”
Papa is survived by his wife: Lynn, seven children: Judy Giannone and her husband Chris, Robert Henry Descheneau, Jr., Scott Descheneau and his wife Arline, Mark Gustafson and his wife Barbara, Daryl Gustafson and his wife Liz, David Gustafson and his wife Kathy, and Robert Gustafson, eleven grandchildren: Jaimie Giarrusso, Jessica Cyr, Scott Descheneau, Jennifer Descheneau, Robert Henry Descheneau III, Jessica Roma, Katie Gustafson, Jim Gustafson, Jillian Gustafson, Lauren Gustafson and Alise Gustafson, six great grandchildren, Keegen MacRae, Ryleigh Cyr, Alyssa Giarrusso, Giovanni Giarrusso, Damion Roma, and Lexi Roma, as well as on sister: Beatrice LeBlanc and her husband “Frenchy,” and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 12 Noon at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Visitation will precede the service on Wednesday morning from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m.
